We are thrilled to announce a series of empowering and enlightening events for Black History Month at Zion Baptist Church. This February, we invite you to join us for a month-long celebration of history, culture, and achievement.

Sunday, February 11

  • Youth & Teens Services: Dr. Ethel Madison Van Buren will speak at the ZBC Museum, sharing her powerful journey surviving Birmingham's 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing in 1963—a testament to resilience and strength.

Sunday, February 18

  • Celebrating the History of Hymns and Spirituals: Join us during the service as we delve into the rich history and impact of hymns and spirituals in the Black Church, with the esteemed Dr. Oral Moses as our Special Guest.
  • Oratorical Contest Presentation: Witness the brilliance of our youth as the Freshman/Sophomore 1st Place Contestant winner is presented. Their eloquence and insight promise to inspire us all.
  • Children's Service: "Oh Taste & See": Young ones will dress in classical mid-century clothing, engaging with senior members while sampling historical soul food selections. It's a heartwarming opportunity for intergenerational connection.
  • Teen Service: Teens are invited to the main service to experience Dr. Moses's enlightening presentation, fostering a sense of unity and understanding across generations.

  • Main Service Oratorical Contest Winners: Join us as all remaining Oratorical Contest Winners showcase their exceptional talents and insights—a celebration of youth and their powerful voices.
  • Wear Your Pride: In the spirit of unity, don your HBCU/College or University, school, Greek, Divine 9, Community org apparel or gear. Let's come together in a vibrant display of our collective pride and accomplishments.
